YOUR DAILY MOMENT: Inspirational thoughts to begin your day
December 5, 2017

This week I went to hear a Christmas cantata by a church choir in a nearby city.  This church is known for its phenomenal music program.  Being a music lover, it is always a highlight of my Christmas season.  As usual, the music was magnificent. Last night, however, I was captivated by one young lady in the orchestra.  She obviously  played her instrument well, but I not only enjoyed listening to her play, I enjoyed watching her play.  I don’t think I have ever seen anyone with the look she had on her face as she was playing.  It was a though she were in a trance as she worshiped, not only through her own music but by the music of the choir and orchestra around her.  Once, when she was not playing, she closed her eyes and nodded her head as if to say, “this is good, and it is for you Lord.”

As I thought about her I was reminded of a Scripture verse, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working unto the Lord, not for human masters,” Colossians 3:23.  I know this young lady was working as unto the Lord.  I could tell by her countenance.  I am sure she wanted to please the conductor, but more than that, she wanted to please God.  We may not all have the incredible gift of music this young lady had, but we all have the same mandate: “to work as unto the Lord.”  It doesn’t matter if you are a mechanic, a grocer, a teacher, a ditch digger, or garbage truck driver, God has given you a job to do as if you are working unto Him.

I was blessed by watching this young lady as she played for the Lord. No matter what you do, you will bless someone if you do as unto the Lord.
